To the east of Amalfi through even more treacherously winding roads, is Ravello, a small town set high on the cliffs, with stunning views of the coastline. It is quiet and sophisticated. It would be the place to wine and dine or to throw a massive wedding party.
We visited the Villa Cimbrone, an ancient Italian villa, rescued and renovated by Lord Grimthorpe in an eclectic Anglo-Italiante style. There was Ceres, Mercury, David and Eros all reproduced with their own special place in the gardens. There are stunning avenues of trees leading to spectacular viewing terraces over rugged mountains and infinitesimal waters. Everything that Italy should be.
