Wednesday 10 – Wednesday 23 November
We flew out of Victoria Falls to Port Elizabeth in South Africa with a stop over in Johannesburg. We had no need to do safari tours, our destination was the Garden Route from the Eastern Cape to Cape Town in the Western Cape.
We had found a local travel agent who put together a fabulous self-drive itinerary including car hire, accommodation, a list of places to see en route and coffee in Knysna.
We had a stunning cabin in Tsitsikamma National Park, yummy lunch in Plettenberg Bay and saw curious castles in Knysna.
From there we headed inland to Oudtshoorn and the story of ostrich feathers, then back to the coast at Hermanus.
Our penultimate stop was the wine regions of Stellenbosch before driving into Cape Town for a grand finale, visiting Table Mountain, Cape of Good Hope and Robben Island.
We had covered nearly 1,500km in a memorable fourteen days.
