We spent 10 days in the Dominican Republic first in Santo Domingo then in La Romana in the east.
The Dominica Republic was our introduction to the Caribbean and to Central America. It was where we started to learn about Spanish invasion, European diseases, slavery and struggles for independence.
It was also a stopping off point so we could reach Cuba, but well worth the visit.
