Monday 7 to Wednesday 16 September
Malta was the only Western European country we hadn’t visited. So we had to make the journey. We were also inspired because good friends Janine & Alex had been there recently to celebrate Alex’s major birthday, as part of his heritage.
The stop in Malta was easily arranged with direct flights from Switzerland and to Germany on Air Malta.
Air Malta were trying very hard to educate us on its country. A message on the engine mount explained a curiosity Luzzu – The luzzu is a brightly coloured Maltese fishing boat with the eye of Osiris painted on the bow. Good start!
We spent quality time exploring the capital Valletta and the little villages across from the Grand Harbour Kalkara and Birgu.
We hired a car and explored the island of Malta and took the ferry to Gozo Island to see some ancient temples.
