This is the story of travels to Barcelona through Central Asia, from Hong Kong to China with a tour arranged by Novaland Tours in Guilin, China and then west through Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Iran, arranged by Passport Travels in Malvern, Victoria, Australia.
From there we were on our own, travelling into Armenia, then Georgia and finishing this leg in Istanbul.
This was just part of an adventure that also took in Europe and the Americas.
FACTS & FIGURES – a sort of disclaimer
We listen to our guides and try and absorb as much information as possible from them, and from any brochures that are available. We also record information boards at each site so we can reference them. Most of our stories are based on this “live” information.
But we are also travelling with Lonely Planet guides from China & Central Asia. And we rely on information from other sites such as Wikipedia, the iPhone app Triposa and local web sites and brochures. We reference this information to fill in the gaps.
Spelling and even stories may vary, however we aim to tell it as we hear and see it.
So many “istan”s, you’ll be very thirsty by the time you leave Iran !
Yes I expect Barcelona will be a welcoming place for more than one reason.
